The Cadet Corner is the place to find educational resources related to the things that affect our communities youth. These topics are brought to you by the Cadets of HPD and are the things they see among themselves and their peers in real time!
Our Cadet Program is funded by donations and grants. The Livin Well Larue Coalition is a continued partner for the program. In return for grant funds, the cadets go out into the community to spread the word and educate youth, as well as adults, about the hazards of things such as vaping and drug use.
HPDs Don't Vape Nude Campaign has the Cadets bringing awareness to two of the biggest issues we see in our schools: Vaping and sending nudes. This program highlights the dangers of such activities using education and prevention tactics.
Kentuckians in crisis can now connect with suicide prevention, mental health, and substance use counselors using a nationwide, easier-to-dial phone number – 988. Phone service providers will now direct 988 calls to the existing national lifeline with its 14 Kentucky call centers. And connection to additional crisis services will be provided if necessary.
Children and adolescents may require specialized care if they experience behavioral difficulties. Our highly skilled staff is specially trained to work with this age group and offer assessments and recommendations for future care. We continually look for new sources of funding so that we can increase personnel and resources for these services.
HPD Cadets are currently participating in an awareness campaign. The Cadets will be distributing information about underage tobacco and vape sales throughout Larue County to businesses that sales these products. HPD will also be conducting sting operations related to the sale of tobacco and vape products to under age individuals.
